General Race Rules

This is a self-supported race, therefore…

*Crew is REQUIRED for the ENTIRE race and you MUST have a pacer at night. NO EXCEPTIONS.

START TIME: There is just one start time for EC100: 8:30 am on October 19. The horn will blow and time will start at 8:30 am SHARP.  Runners must check in at the start line, ready to race, 30 minutes prior to the start time. There are two divisions: men’s and women’s. The racer to arrive at the finish line in each division with the lowest overall time will be considered the winner, though all who finish this race  within the 30 hour time limit have won in our book.

RACE NUMBERS: The race number must be worn on the front of the body, unmodified, unfolded, and visible at all times during the race. It may not be worn on the head or hat.

CLOCK: The clock does not stop for any reason until the race course officially closes 30 hours after the official start time.

CUTOFFS: All runners must have passed, and be proceeding forward, beyond the following locations within the specified time cut-offs.  These cutoffs are quite generous and assume a >/= 18 minute mile throughout the race.

  • HARD CUTOFFS WILL BE ENFORCED STRICTLY.  If a runner has not crossed the HARD CUTOFF point by the time limit below, he/she will be unable to continue forward.
  • SOFT Cutoffs are when the mid-point sub-station closes. Runners may proceed even if SOFT cutoff has been missed.

Running must always be single file and on the left side of the street whenever possible (facing traffic). In some cases, runners should run WHERE THERE ARE SIDEWALKS if there are none on the left side of the road.

MANDATORY CHECK-IN AND SUB-STATIONS: Racers must make their presence known at all Sub-Stations and Check-In Stations located along the route. Runner arrival times at all designated Time Stations will be recorded and made public.

Racers, crew, and staff must not litter, mar, or pollute the landscape or environment.

All racers, crew and staff must display courtesy, good taste, decorum, and sportsmanship at all times. Please remember, you are supporting a youth organization and by default, you are representing The 100 Mile Club® during this race.
